ISQua EEA has recently accredited its first quality and patient safety training programmes under its Quality and Patient Safety Training Programme. ISQua EEA’s assessment of quality and patient safety training programmes looks at how the training programme is developed, managed and delivered and how trainee competence is assessed against the training programme’s learning objectives. An accreditation award indicates that the quality and patient safety training programme has been designed and delivered in line with international best practice requirements.
We asked our clients what they feel the benefits are of getting their training programme accredited:
The Health Care Accreditation Council in Jordan advised that the ISQua EEA accreditation award for the HCAC quality and patient safety programme boosts the programme’s credibility, as it assures their stakeholders that their training programme meets high standards of quality and effectiveness while the rigorous evaluation of the programme content and delivery ensures that the programme addresses essential aspects of quality and patient safety. This, in turn, can lead to improved practices among healthcare workers and providers and better patient outcomes. For healthcare providers and institutions, accredited training programmes offer assurance that they are investing in training that has been vetted and endorsed by a recognised authority.
“The feedback and continuous support from the ISQua EEA team helped in reviewing the self-assessment tool and ensured that it reflected the level of compliance of the HCAC training programme with the standards. The survey report was helpful to identify areas for improvement that we can work on to ensure that the programme is managed according to the best practices.”
Another client, Gates Group from Lebanon indicated that the ISQua EEA accreditation process has provided them with a structured framework to continuously improve their training offerings and align them with global best practices. Accreditation helps to enhance the creditability of their training programme and allows them to demonstrate their commitment to supporting high standards in patient care. They also remarked that accreditation helps to set a benchmark for quality for such training programmes.
“The surveyor was insightful and provided constructive feedback that was instrumental in refining our programme. The process was streamlined, and the communication was clear and supportive, facilitating a smooth experience.”
About the ISQua EEA Assessment Process
The survey process starts with the client getting access to resources and support from the ISQua EEA team. An initial review of your self-assessment tool is completed to ensure that your submission is as comprehensive as possible for survey.
An international peer review surveyor (approved by your organisation) then assesses your self-assessment tool and supporting evidence (in English) over one week and provides a report with exceptional performance comments, recommendations and opportunities for improvement for your training programme. This report is then sent to you for factual accuracy review where you can provide comments on any factual inaccuracies included in the report or if feel that something has been missed.
The final report then goes to the External Evaluation Award Committee for decision. The whole process takes approximately four months. We recommend that your organisation begin by undertaking a gap analysis against the ISQua EEA Standards for Quality and Patient Safety Training Programmes 1st Edition as this will allow you to identify any gaps in compliance and will help you work out when you might be able to proceed with an assessment by ISQua EEA.
Quality and patient safety training programmes are an important part of equipping healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to promote quality improvement which may lead to better healthcare outcomes. As highlighted by some organisations, if you wish to strengthen the credibility of your quality and patient safety training programme and assure your stakeholders that it meets international best practice requirements, then contact us today to discuss getting your programme accredited by ISQua EEA.
